Maras Moray Half Day

DAY 1: SACRED VALLEY TOUR

We will pick you up from your hotel very early after breakfast, between 6:30 and 6:50 am. We will begin our tour from the imperial city of Cusco, passing through landscapes filled with flora along the way. In 45 minutes, we will arrive at our first destination, Chinchero, a traditional artisan village located at 3,700 meters (12,500 feet), the highest point between Cusco and the Sacred Valley. Here, we will visit the archaeological site of the same name, its colonial church of the Nativity of the Virgin of Montserrat, and finally, a traditional artisan center. Here, we will learn about the entire textile-making process.

Afterward, we will head to our second destination, Moray, a site where agricultural experiments were conducted with different products from the highlands, coast, and rainforest. Following Moray, we will tour the salt mine located in a section of the valley. Here, you will find more than 4,800 salt pools, currently the most sought-after salt deposits in Peru and beyond. Here you can learn to distinguish between different types of salt, both for cooking and medicinal purposes.

After the visit, we will descend into the heart of the Sacred Valley of Urubamba. There, we will enjoy a delicious Andean buffet lunch. After 25 minutes, we will arrive at Ollantaytambo, the “City of the Living,” a resting place during the Inca era. This site holds many mysteries surrounding its construction. Here we will find the famous Temple of the Sun, the Ten Niches, the Temple of the Water Condors, and other sites.

After our visit, we will have 1 hour and 20 minutes to enjoy a nap while we travel to our final destination, Pisac. This site boasts the largest Inca cemetery in South America, as well as agricultural terraces and irrigation systems, among other features. After the visit, we will stop in the town of Pisac before returning to Cusco, arriving at approximately 7:00 pm at Cusco’s main square.
